Welcome to Pet insurance online!
This site is dedicated to bring you the all the key information about insuring your pet (dog, cat or other ones: horses, parrots rabbits etc.)
Do you love your pet? Yes, of course – everybody loves his pet. We also do. And we do not want it to suffer from pain or illness. But these days, veterinary services are often very expensive. When your pet gets sick (nobody wishes that, but it may happen), its healthcare may cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. And even if you pay such an amount, you never can be sure, everything will go right.
Many people cannot afford such expensive veterinary treatment – then there comes so called Economic euthanasia.
But smart people know, there is a pet insurance on the market. As pets are more and more part of your family, decision about “letting them go” just because you don’t have enough money for the veterinary bill, can be very emotionally frustrating.
Pet insurance can cover the veterinary expenses, so that you are not faced with the “life or money” decision.
What is pet insurance?
Basically, pet insurance will cover your costs in case your pet is ill or has an accident. Some pet insurance companies pay you even when your beloved animal dies, is stolen or runs off.
Will the pet insurance cover you full expenses?
Sometimes yes, but the condition varies policy from policy. Some pet insurance companies cover 100 % of veterinary fees, some other have deductible 50 – 100 $ and cover only a part of the fees (80-90 %). Before you sign any pet insurance, read carefully all the terms!
Pre-existing conditions
Same as with many other insurance, pet insurance does not cover so called “pre-existing conditions”. This means you cannot insure your pet after you find out, when it’s already ill.
For this reason, we highly recommend you to make the pet insurance as soon as possible – when your pet is young and healthy.
Will my pet insurance cover the preventive veterinary care?
Again, it depends on company and varies from policy to policy. Usually the pet insurance doesn’t cover preventive veterinary care or elective veterinary care (for example neutering). The reason is, that these costs are pretty well knows ahead and can be planned – insurance should protect you from the unexpected big expenses.
Recently, however, some insurance companies included preventive care to their pet insurance plans.
What are the negatives of the pet insurance?
Same as with other insurance – you pay every year some money and you never know, whether you will need its coverage. It may happen, that you pay 10 to 15 years (if you have dog or cat) for nothing, as your pet is healthy all the life.
